About My Teaching

I believe dance and theatre education should be joyful, challenging, and rooted in curiosity. My goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks, developing their individual artistic voices, and discovering what they are capable of.

I have been teaching dance, movement, and theatre for more than a decade, working with students from early childhood through advanced and pre-professional levels. My teaching includes creative movement, ballet, modern and contemporary dance, jazz, musical theatre dance, conditioning, choreography, and theatre creation.

My approach changes with the age and experience of the students in the room. With young artists, I use imagination, play, storytelling, and exploration to build foundational movement and performance skills. As students grow, I introduce greater technical and artistic challenges while encouraging them to make thoughtful choices, ask questions, and develop confidence in their own creative instincts.

Alongside my work as an educator, I am an active choreographer and performer. That ongoing artistic practice is an important part of my teaching: I want students to experience dance and theatre not simply as a collection of skills to master, but as living art practice through which they can communicate, collaborate, experiment, and create.

Jesse is currently on faculty at Children’s Theater Company, Minnesota Dance Theater and Ashley Ballet Arts Academy.

He is also available for school residencies, workshops, choreography, master classes, and guest teaching.
